Healthwatch Derbyshire identified a delay in waiting times for orthoses at Royal Derby Hospital to be an issue when analysing feedback people had shared about the service. In some cases,
there was a delay of up to 3 months between patients being measured for a piece of equipment and them receiving the manufactured product.
This can be particularly problematic for children and young people who may grow considerably during such a delay, thus causing the product to become ill-fitting or only suitable only for a short
period of time.
Upon contacting the hospital to highlight this information Healthwatch Derbyshire was informed of an action plan being put together to tackle the issues faced by patients of orthotics services.
