As some of you will already know I’m leaving Healthwatch
Derbyshire to take up the post of Head of Engagement for Joined Up Care
It was a difficult decision to leave Healthwatch, as I have
spent 6 years working for the organisation, since its inception in April 2013,
and I am very committed to the ethos and purpose of Healthwatch.
I am however excited to be started my new role, as it gives
me the opportunity to improve patient involvement in the commissioning process,
and give people a genuine opportunity to influence the decisions that are being
made. Health services are changing, and there’s never been a more important
time for people to have their say, and I want to ensure there are a range of
different ways in which this can happen. I’ve got lots of ideas, and I’m really
keen to get started.
I’ll still be working closely with Healthwatch over the
coming months, as Healthwatch will be conducting engagement with the residents
of Derbyshire around the implementation of the NHS Long Term Plan, which will
also set the priorities for Joined Up Care Derbyshire in the coming year.
I’m leaving behind an amazing and capable team at
Healthwatch, so I’ve no doubt that everything will continue to run smoothly
until the new Chief Executive is recruited.
Helen Henderson-Spoors who has been my deputy for many
years, will be acting up in the interim.
I wish Helen and the team all the best, and will certainly
be keeping in touch.
