AJM Healthcare gives update on their action plan

We want to share an update about how AJM Healthcare, the Derbyshire wheelchair service provider, says they are working on the issues raised in our 2024 Wheelchair Service Report. After hearing your concerns following our report, AJM created an action plan to show what they aim to do and when. Read on for more updates on the plan from AJM Healthcare.

Communication

One big issue people told us about was poor communication. AJM says they now give clearer timelines for wheelchair deliveries and repairs. They also say they are calling people to give updates if there are delays. A leaflet explaining how the service works has been created but hasn’t been shared yet. AJM also says they are holding more regular meetings with clinical teams and hiring more staff. In the future, they plan to use text messages to keep people updated.

Delays and Repairs

AJM says they are trying to reduce delays by keeping more wheelchair parts in stock and using reconditioned chairs to help people sooner. However, they also said two of their main suppliers have moved their factories, which could cause problems. It’s unclear how this will affect their service yet.

Customer Service

AJM says they’ve given their their customer service team more training and hired new staff. They have a system to let managers step in when cases take too long to solve. AJM also states they are working on a new complaints system to make it easier to deal with problems and help their team handle queries better.

Community Engagement

AJM says they’ve started running mobile clinics at schools, but not many schools have used them so far. They also say they’ve made it easier to share feedback with things like surveys and forums.

What Happens Next?

While AJM has told us about these changes, we can’t confirm if they’ve happened or how well they are working. We’ll keep listening to your feedback to make sure your voice is heard.

If you’ve used the Derbyshire Wheelchair Service, please tell us about your experience. Your feedback is important and helps improve services for everyone.
